  • I manage a MT blog with 55 authors. With nearly 5000 entries, the site and its occasional rebuilding is becoming burdensome. Moreover, I love WP and use it for my blog and my newer photolog.
Would WP handle 55+ authors? If so, how the heck would I set that up?
    Thanks!

  • Mike,
Go into your Admin Panel, and select USERS and create all the accounts you want. I can see no reason why you couldn’t have 55+ authors. Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes!

mike, the new import-mt.php script that ships with 1.2 beta/delta can help you create all the 55+ users in wordpress, or even “map” some of those users to other users that you specify. All you have to do is export your mt entries and then import them using the importer.

I am using the latest version, 1.5.3 and I can NOT authorize any ‘authors’. If I do what you say above, all I can do is just manually register a person, with no author rights, there is no nothing for me to give them author rights. I want to be able to list people I know that do writing, which is very important for blogs, to be able to ‘start’ an ‘article’ and post it themselves. Only me, the admin, is an author. Your above “Go into your Admin Panel, and select USERS and create all the accounts you want. I can see no reason why you couldn’t have 55+ authors. Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes!” does not work. I like WP, but I will have to give it some strong thought about using it if I can’t give anyone the same authorship I have instead of ‘comment’ rights. What say you?

TekMan, under Users > Authors & Users, each listing under Registered Users should have a Promote link. Those listed under Authors should display + & – links on either side of the level # (for promoting/demoting to other levels).
