Is Multi-Site now included as an out of the box option within WP. When I first started Multi-Site was a separate install and there were things that were unavailable or wouldn’t work (plugins, etc) if you went with Multi-Site.

Yes.

It works pretty much the same. tho plugin authors are catching up and there is plenty available.

It also doesnt look like you can do http://www.domain1.com and http://www.domain2.com. Mostly looking at this for content sharing and single administration area.

You want a domain mirroring plugin instead.
