• This is my second try at posting my question, For some reason my first thread was closed? This is my first try trying to get support from the WP community.
I have a photography website that I made with WordPress called learning photography. We wanted to add a blog to the site, so I installed a second copy of WordPress in a sub directory on the same server.

They both have separate databases and both index pages work perfectly. However, when you click on a link in the /blog install it takes you back to the first blog and displays a 404 page not found instead of a page from the second blog!

I have tried Google various things all morning, and I have gone through the multi-blog install page… perhaps I missed a step?

I checked the blog settings… I am going to install two blogs on a fresh website with no themes or plugins and see if I get the same problem. I am totally stumped.

  • Why are you using 2 installs for the same site? I seems to me that the best solution would be to use one. Just trying to figure out your motivations. There is probably a better solution than using two installs. Please reply with a link.

I posted a link in the first post on the board and the thread was immediately closed… But I knew you wouldn’t follow what I’m talking about without a link. Learning photography is the main wordpress site. It uses pages to create a standard web site layout. /blog is the Blog where we use posts to create a blog layout.

I can think of no way to create a standard website layout at the root of a domain, and a blog at /blog without using two installs. If I set /blog as the root of the install, then how do I make the root page for the domain?

Or if I set the root of the domain as the blog how do I make /blog function as a blog index only for stories posted in the /blog folder 🙂

Read this – the second post down.
