Moving WP to root when no htaccess? (1 post)

I´ve been reading up on what is said about moving WP from a directory to the root and the last point always seem to be to change the htaccess file. My host doesn´t allow .htaccess. (Yahoo!).

If I understand this correct, the htaccess need to be altered in order for the permalinks to work. So if I cannot use htaccess, what can I do instead?

Currently, the WP URI and Blog URI is set to //domain.com/blog. I´m ok with having WP installed in a subdirectory and the blog front page is available from //domain.com. I don´t mind if every post contain /blog/ but it seems to me that my current installation is causing some dns confusion; incoming links are not picked up, Google is indexing the root domain.com but not http://www.domain... I´m also confused by a url checker that says domain.com/blog is forwarded to /blog/ with the end slash.

How do I get all this togehter, with or without moving the installation?
