Moving WP from folder to root same server & domain (5 posts)

I seem to be getting mixed messages on this process.
I have the old website in the root. I have the new WP website I have been working on in a /directory. I am now ready to kill the old one and move the new one to the root.

Some say I have to use Backup Buddy.
Some have given me a long list of steps to follow.
Some tell me to just delete the old website and move the new one in the directory to the root. (with a bit of .htaccess work)

    I like that last one!

If that is possible, do I change the GENERAL SETTINGS from
domain.com/folder to domain.com before the move?

    thanx

How about an even simpler option? Takes about 10 minutes.

Cool. I think that is the easiest choice, but I worry that it does not actually move the WP files to the root. I wonder about SEO and link issues down the road. What about moving it next time to a new server which is coming up soon. Or are my worries about this unfounded ya think?

Is there a way to physically move the WP files into the root and then do some magic to make it work?

Or does one need Backup Buddy or Duplicator or whatever to do that?
    Thanx

That doesn't matter one bit. And for your particular needs, it's the perfect solution.
