    Hi, I want to set up a "baby blog" on wordpress.com just to get some ideas going. If want to, say in the next couple of weeks, move it over to a wordpress.org set up, is that pretty easy to do? Any pointers on how to do that?
    thanks much
    Camille

    1. Register domain
    2. Acquire hosting
    3. Install WordPress at new host
    4. At wordpress.COM do Tools->Export
    5. At new blog, do Tools->Import->WordPress using file from step 4

    I understand it is easy to export and import all your data. What happens though to all those who have registered your blog on their RSS feed. Once you move to the new host you'll have a new link, does this mean you lose all your followers and need to start from scratch?

    I try to do it but I get the reply:

    Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error:

    Unable to create directory /usr/home/web/web163013/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    What am I supposed to do about that. I'll be grateful for an answer.

    Martin
