Moving WordPress to root…
-
Well it took me a long time but I finally set up my wordpress the way I want it.
My original site: http://www.nedyken.com
my wordpress: http://www.nedyken.com/wordpress
However, the wordpress is going to be a total replacement for my main site. I would like to move it to the root directory.
Here is my main concern: I have it set so that the permalinks display: /%category%/%postname%/
Examples of categories I have set up:
Movies
Dabbles
BlogsThe problem is that I have a lot of my original links floating around the internet and I don’t want to merely delete those links. People have posted the links on various forums
For example:, a lot of people have been linking to: http://www.nedyken.com/movies/rachelzevita.html
The “new” version of that page is currently here:
http://www.nedyken.com/wordpress/movies/new-movie-the-rachel-zevita-tribute-video/And after I move it to the root, the new version of the page will be here, I assume:
http://www.nedyken.com/movies/new-movie-the-rachel-zevita-tribute-video/
Now, I figured that I could manually go into that old html and put in some simple code that will have it manually redirect to the new version of the page. But my question is this: Is it going to cause any kind of conflict if WordPress is using a structure like http://www.nedyken.com/movies and there is an ACTUAL folder existing called http://www.nedyken.com/movies ? Would I just need to make sure the index.html in that folder is deleted and not be concerned about secondary htmls like rachelzevita.html ?
I figured I better ask before I screw up the whole thing…
