I have a WP installed under http://makemeslim.martinprojects.com/ and all permalink start with this url. My client has bought a new domain newdomain.com and he wants to move the blog to this address and make the new permalinks he creates start with newdomain.com. The WP will be still on the same server.
Just need a confirmation.
When moving the WP to the new URL do I follow these instructions?
http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_Within_Your_Site
thanks
No, if it is a new domain - it is NOT "within your site". It is moving to a new domain.
The permalinks will start with whatever is in the two URL values in admin > Settings > General.
In other words, do nothing except backup and move . . .
If your new setup is the same as the old that is.

Moshu: I know you know this staff but I am a bit confused. It is the first time I will be doing this and it is for a client.
Ok. So all I need to do is change the
WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL) from newdomain.martinprojects.com to newdomain.com.
And go to the newdomain.com registrar and change the nameserver to point to my server where WP is.
You forgot the important part: the MOVE :)
If the DB is on the same server you might not need to move it, but you definitely will have to move the whole WP installation!
(and, btw, when I work for clients I don't come here to ask for free help... I hire pros for the tasks I am not prepared for)
