Moving WordPress to new Domain issues (1 post)

    Hi,

I am attempting to move a wordpress instance, along with customized theme from a setup on XAMPP on one PC to a setup of EasyPHP on another PC.

I started by creating a brand new WP installation on EasyPHP. No problems there.

I then copied all of the "wp-contents" folder from the XAMPP install over to the EasyPHP install and replaced the existing "wp-contents" folder.

I then exported out the mySQL database from the XAMPP instance and created a brand new DB over in EasyPHP and then imported that DB into the EasyPHP instance. I created a new user for the new DB.

I then updated the 'wp-congif.php' file to point to the new DB along with User and Pswd.

I was planning to run the 'searchandreplace.php' script that I have, but when I go the wp-admin section on my localhost in the new EasyPHP instance I get a "Unable to Connect" error in my browser.

Apparently I cannot either connect to the DB, the export I did was bad, the import I did was bad, or something else is wrong. BUT, I have no idea what is wrong.

I've done these moves before, usually from XAMPP to an actual hosting site, and had no problems.

What can I do to figure this out?

    Thanks!
