I moved a wordpress website from one host to another. I have the xml backup file and access to the old site for a while. From what I understand if it is a straight move, you can just move the files? Does wordpress need to be installed first in the new location?

    Here is the site: http://www.motherandchild-edu.org

anywhere you go, it says error estabilishing database connection

there is also this error: Failed loading C:\Inetpub\vhosts\aidright.com\httpdocs\ioncube\ioncube_loader_win_4.4.dll

Help! i need to fix this today.

yes you will need to set up a few things such as your database and then instruct your config file of the data base's location, user name, password, etc

I just told godaddy to install wordpress and I will update the config file. I hope that works.

  4. While you're at it, change from windows to linux hosting; you'll have fewer problems in the long run: Switching Your Hosting Account Operating System - GoDaddy Help Center. The change takes a few hours.

After wordpres is running, import your XML file and then move the theme from your old site to your new hosting.
