    I am moving old blog to new domain.
    on the new domain i have created sub domain http://www.xyz.mysite.com i have installed new wordpress.

    1-from old blog i have copied all my wp-content folder/sql database.
    2-created new database/user
    2-changed wp-config.php to reflect new database names.
    4-opened sql databse file and replaced all instances of http://www.oldsite.com to http://www.xyz.mysite.com

    Questions
    1-when i went to import the sql database getting an error #1046 no database selected.

    2-also do i need to change?what is this?
    define('WP_HOME','http://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com');

    3-do i import database first my sql database then move my wp-content (replace on default existing installation) and wp-config.php files?

    4-what else do i need to change,i still see /home/esthetac/public_html/mysite.ca
    what is this esthetac?

    5-does it matter if i am moving from old version of wordpress to new version (latest)

    thank you in advance,

    when i went to import the sql database getting an error #1046 no database selected.

    Are you using Phpmyadmin for the import?

    also do i need to change?what is this?

    You don't need that if you've already carried out a search & replace on the sql file to change all domain names/urls. Is it in your old wp-config.php file?

    what is this esthetac?

    That's part of your server path. I'd guess that the hosting package was set up using the name/username "esthetac". The exact process or naming system varies from host to host, so it might be better to speak to your hosts if you need any more details about this.

    does it matter if i am moving from old version of wordpress to new version (latest)

    Oh gosh - yes! The database structure changes between major versions (and between minor updates sometimes too). What version of WordPress were you running on the old site?

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-setting your permalinks
