Moving WordPress from Subdomain to Subdirectory (3 posts)

I would like to move my blog from: blog.example.com
    to: http://www.example.com/blog

    I have read:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
    &
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Giving_WordPress_its_Own_Directory_While_Leaving_the_WordPress_Index_File_in_the_Root_Directory

When I shift the site over after changing the URL and URI all I get is a not found page.
I believe I am having trouble with this step.

    7. Copy (NOT MOVE!) the index.php and .htaccess files from the WordPress directory into the root directory of your site (Blog address). The .htaccess file is invisible, so you may have to set your FTP client to show hidden files. If you are not using pretty permalinks, then you may not have a .htaccess file. If you are running WordPress on a Windows (IIS) server and are using pretty permalinks, you'll have a web.config rather than a .htaccess file in your WordPress directory. As stated above, copy (don't move) the index.php file to your root directory, but MOVE (DON'T COPY) the web.config file to your root directory.

Could someone please point out if I am approaching this the correctly, it is driving me insane. Any help is much appreciated.

It's already in a folder for /blog right? I mean on your server it's /public_html/blog?

if so, just change the URLs from blog.example.com to example.com/blog

Then turn off the subdomain on your cpanel or whatever you used.

Go to example.com/blog and what do you see?

Yes I have it in the correct folder and did change the names. The only step that I had not previously taken was turning off the subdomain. Will that alone prevent it from working?

I just deleted the subdomain through my control panel and I am still getting a 404 not found but the 404 page has my blogs design.
