If I just rename my folder /blog/ to /site/will this crash my wordpress.
I am aware that I would have to change all my pages and posts manually to the renamed folder, but would it run when I fix it up internally.

At the moment I use one html page to point to my wordpress, and I have been trying to work out is it better in the root directory or just rename the folder.

People have been telling me that WordPress is just a blog, but blogs to me means that other people can add to a blog, where as I don't offer others to register as an author, just as a subscriber. So can it be refered to as a website?

The site i only 2 weeks old, if I am going to change it. Now or never.

Moving WordPress guide on codex might help you to solve the issue on renaming the site URL.

    Yes, of course. Why not?
