Moving WordPress directory=broken links? (3 posts)

I am planning on moving my WordPress site from "blog.sitename.com" to "sitename.com". I have read the instructions in the Codex (http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress). At the end of the instructions it says "If you have problems with missing images that you've uploaded, you need to change the path to the images on every post directly on your SQL database."

I'm curious if SQL database step is always required after the move? Those of you that have moved your site directory, did you have broken links and need to do the SQL database editing step?

I'm pretty comfortable following the steps in the instruction but no so comfortable with editing the SQL database. Thank you.

See one of the videos in the following post...there is a section in each of them showing how to edit the links in the database.
