moving subcategories out of parents in permalinks

I was wondering if there was a way to show the child categories in the permalink but not the parent category.

For example, normally the permalink would look like this:

http://www.site.com/category/subcategory/123

But I would like:

http://www.site.com/subcategory/123

Any suggestions appreciated
