moving site www issue

    Just uploaded new wordpress site. The old site (same domain) was hosted with easyspace. Changed dns to point to new server. The new site ie mysite.com loads fine, but when I go to load www. mysite.com the old site loads on the easyspace server. It has only been 24 hours since updated dns, is it just a question of waiting or do I need to put a redirect in place?

    You may have to wait for up to 72 hours for dns to fully propagate.

    ok thanks. If when it’s finally propagated, I wanted to change the site so it displays as www do I just change the wordpress url and the site url via settings or do I also have to change other urls elsewhere eg config.php? Thanks

    Hi, I’ve seen this, but it doesn’t mention the www and non-www scenario. The domain name isn’t changing. Thanks.

    Hi mrk978d,

    How did you point your domain to your new server? Using nameservers? If you used an A record you will need to also create a record for www.

    Once you have these setup you can use a 301 redirect to force the site to load either www. or none www.
