Moving Site to New Domain Left WP-Admin a Mess (5 posts)

    I just moved a self-hosted site from one domain to another, using Joost de Valk's instructions (sorry I can't provide a link).

    The new site is displaying perfectly, but the wp-admin section is formatted horribly. All function, however, seem to be working fine.

    You can see a screenshot at http://www.lanelester.com/wp-admin.png

    I'm hoping you know how to fix this, because I'm clueless.

    I looked that page over, and it's similar what I did.

    Interestingly, the General Settings:
    WordPress Address (URL)
    Site Address (URL)
    look like they are correct, but they cannot be changed. The fields are not accessible.

    I used the Search and Replace plugin to update the database after importing the old one. It must have changed the above URL settings, because I didn't make the change before I exported the old database.

    I didn't see anything in the procedure you linked that would explain why the formatting of the admin section is screwed up.

    BTW, the link to the procedure I followed is http://yoast.com/move-wordpress-blog-domain-10-steps/ I did not find step 4 needed.

    The fields are not accessible.

    Check your wp-config.php file.

    Oh, yes! Yoast's instructions had me adding these lines to wp-config.php:
    define('WP_SITEURL', 'http://www.mountaingallery.net');
    define('WP_HOME', 'http://www.mountaingallery.net');
