Hi, I've been able to move the posts and comments from my WP hosted site to my own server but the template and blogroll didn't come along. When I asked my new host about it they said I had to have the SQL pointing to their server and if I had questions about that to contact you. So here I am. I am also not a web experts so please, please make it as simple as you can and step by step instructions tend to work well for me. Thanks.
Hello. Here it is two months later and I am still trying to change the theme on my site. I've managed to move all the posts and comments over but I would like to personalize the site with a new theme.
I tried to follow the directions outlined, downloaded the ftp, downloaded the themes but still can't get it up and running. Please help...I'm at my wits end.

Do you have access to your public_htm directory where you host your blog? If so, that should be where your copy of WP is installed.
All you need to do is upload your theme (unzip first or after you upload--if you have Cpanel it should be easy to unzip after upload) to the wp-content/themes folder and then log into your blog and select it in the admin area.
