   Hi,

   I'm wondering how I could transfer everything in my blog to a new url, to free up the current domain name for a different use. (The posts don't seem to be stored anywhere on http://FTP...?)

   Please review Moving WordPress.

   The key is making sure you have a good backup of your database and your WordPress files.
