Moving from free WP.com to hosted WP.org

I probably will be going to BlueHost with WP.

I would like to use a decent template for the design and then not have to worry about any formatting or config stuff.

1. Would this be possible?
2. Is there some sort of learning curve.

(I’ve had my blog on hosted Movable Type and that is an experience I would not want to repeat. I had thus, moved to free WP.com blog. But there are some features available on .org that are making me more iinclined to go hosted route again)

I will want to create a ‘kid-friendly’ blog for a younger member of my family. ‘Kid-friendly’ means more on the lines of security and privacy.

3. Will this be possible on hosted WP.org?
