I've decided to move my site from wordpress.com to a self-hosted site using WP 3.1 (via GoDaddy). When I went to set up the new GoDaddy site, they asked for my domain. So, I entered the one I'm currently redirecting my .com site's traffic to.
I then installed the 3.1 software, and created a new database in a subfolder (since it wouldn't let me put it in the root directory, saying that path was already in use).
Here's the problem: When I try to log-in to my admin panel, it takes me to my .com log-in, since I'm using the same domain name. Can I not access the .org admin screen until I switch the DNS to the new host? Should I just wait 24 hours and see if I can then log into my "new" .org admin panel?
I was hoping to work on the new site while the old one was still up, and then switch over when I'm ready. I may be in over my head here.
