    Hi there,

I've been trying to move my wordpress site from one domain to another but I'm not having much luck.

Originally I built the site here: http://www.samwydymus.co.uk

I want to move it to http://www.thecoastguard.co.uk

I updated the dns at the domain registration company and I changed the home and siturl in the mysql database to the new site but didn't have any luck. So, I've tried to restore everything back to the http://www.samwydymus.co.uk site so that I can try again but now I can't get the original site to work.

It may be that it's because I'm changing the primary domain in my godaddy hosting account from http://www.thecoastguard.co.uk to http://www.samwydymus.co.uk but the message on the account does say that both domains should be active while they're changing over.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!!! :)

  2. Not knowing the details of how GoDaddy handles this... Normally when you move a domain, you need to follow these steps: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server

But it sounds like goDaddy's making it just like a folder move? Are you sure WordPress is in the right folder location for the new server name?

    It's in the root folder.

I don't need to move the wordpress site at all. I'm just changing the domain name.

Got it sorted. It was completely unrelated. I had changed the password for the database without updating the wp-config.php file. Doh!!!!
