Support » Fixing WordPress » Moving blog to website

  • I have not yet downloaded WordPress. If I do, can I later transfer it to become a part of my own website? I am keen to start blogging right away, while I am waiting for my service provider to see if my database system can be updated to operate the blog. Something called My.SQL? Most grateful for any help.

  • Hi

You can’t install WordPress without having a MySQL database for WordPress already created, so your webhost’s answer to the database question must be received before your question can be definitively answered.

That depends on what you mean by that question. In a sense WordPress IS a part of your website, as soon as its installed. If you have a traditional HTML website and are asking if WordPress can be converted to work like that, the answer is No. However WordPress can be INTEGRATED into an existing website, even while behind the scenes it does stand alone. It can even be made to look exactly like your existing website, and to share the navigation that is on your existing website. But even while doing all that, it still stands on its own, behind the scenes.
