[resolved] Moved To A New WebHost - Cannot Login To Admin (6 posts)

I moved to a new webhost yesterday, pointed the domain to the new nameservers, i have given it 24 hours and checked WhoIs and i can see they have the new nameserver records and the main site is working fine.

The problem is when i try and login i am just not getting anywhere, the information i put in the name and password box just remains in the box and it doesn't login, no information is given to why this happens, password and name is correct, i click to login, it says loading and nothing happens.

I have W3 Total Cache installed and User Locker installed, i don't think those are the issue but maybe it is a cache problem, anyway i have tried four different browsers, removed cookies, browsing history etc etc, still i cannot login.

The main site is working just fine, i just cannot get into the admin section of the site, i have read previous issues with this but those people got warning messages, i am not getting any warning messages.

I have this in the browser window http://www.mysitename.com/login.php? is that correct, nothing else is showing but i think i have a plugin which is supposed to hide the admin and change the url, i think thats the secure wordpress plugin.

Pulling my hair out and i don't have enough to do that, any help is most appreciated.

    no - it's
    http://example.com/wp-login.php

    if it still doesn't work
rename your /plugins folder via ftp or host's file manager
this will deactivate the plugins and hopefully let you log in
rename folder back to normal and activate plugins one by one - testing in between

Ooops my mistake, yes it is wp-login.php, thats what i get but cannot login, i will try the plugin folder trick and see if that helps and report back in a few minutes.

That worked but only after deleting advanced-cache.php, db.php and object-cache.php, i saved them to my computer before deleting them.

Thanks for your help, i guess this was the w3 Total Cache plugin.

Might be the secure wordpress plugin too, going to test that now, that puts an index.html file in the plugins directory.

Not sure what was happening, i cleared the entire w3 Total Cache and also re-installed wordpress 3.2.1.

Seems to point to a cache issue when moving sites with W3 Total Cache though but who knows, all plugins activated and it logs in now, only the W3 Total Cache has been cleared, thats why i suspect its that plugin but it looks like it will all work now, maybe some database things were updated by re-installing wordpress too, not sure, just glad its all now working.
