I moved an existing WP site to another space on GoDaddy per my client’s request and now only the front page and the dashboard show up. Links to any other page produce errors.

    The site is http://cashspiracy.com

The site was in a subdomain on GoDaddy and needed to be moved to a top level domain in order to have a security certificate applied.

I’ve moved sites before, but not run into this problem. I know I have the database info correctly entered on the wp-config.php file because the site comes up and the dashboard works fine. All the pages exist in the dashboard, they just won’t come up.

I did a complete download of the site the other day and moved it completely to the new spot. No files should be missing. I’m pretty sure of that.

I’m hoping someone will notice the error messages at the bottom of the front page, the error messages that appear on each page as it’s clicked in the main navigation bar, and on the bottom of the login page, and say, “oh yeah, I know what’s going on, you need to [answer goes here].”

Some facts: the front page is a static page created from a modified “page.php” template. The inside pages are all “page.php” templates with a blog on one “page”. Yes, all the files are uploaded in the site’s theme.

Is it possible that I might need to re-install or maybe upgrade the instalation? I’m wondering if there’s something going on where an upgrade would interact with the database and make things right?

Okay, a change in the situation. The error messages on the front page and the login page are gone, but I’m still not able to get any pages to load. I get a 404 error.

The requested URL /(page name)/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I found a forum topic which covered my issue. Turns out that I needed to change the permalink options from “name” to “default” and back to “name” again.

After doing this, the 404 errors turned into GoDaddy errors, and the solution was to simply go to each “page” and click “save”. This re-established the permalinks in the database and my “pages” returned.

Not able to give a complete explanation why this happened, but at least I figured out the solution. Hope this helps others.
