Moved site from localhost to linux server, now text widgets are not working (5 posts)

I created a theme using a WordPress 3.2.1 install on my local server (Win7-x64, Apache2-x64, PHP5-x64, MySQL-x64) and the "Blankslate" theme as my starting point, and it worked fine. I installed the "Backup and Move" plugin (which has worked well for me in the past) and when I restored the site to the production server (Ubuntu 11.04 LAMP Server, 32-bit), my text widget disappeared, while my other widgets are working fine. I even tried replacing my text widget with a WYSIWYG Text Widget, and it does the same thing, just disappears and will not save, while other widgets can be installed to my sidebar without problems. What could be causing such bizarre behavior?

Was able to save a text widget with one word, but it disappeared the second I refreshed after saving more than one line of text to the widget.

tried removing all line breaks from my html, no dice. Is it spaces between words it has a problem with?

OMG, it saves if I use nbsp; instead of spaces in my html- this will not stand, please tell me what I need to do to fix it- I also have to add manual breaks, as using the nbsp; to separate words makes all my text run out of the widget.
