Moved Multisite Install – Keeps Redirecting to Old Site

I had an install of WP installed using WPMU and WP 2.9.2 which I was unable to upgrade to WP 3+, so I moved the installation to another folder on the same server.
The original site was at /var/www/html
The new installation is at /var/www/newThe two folders are on a par, and the new WP install of Ver. 3.2.1 is at http://newinstall.com while the old install which originally was at http://newinstall.com is now at http://oldinstall.com
While this makes both installations domains in their own right, whenever I try to access a subdomain on http://oldinstall.com with a path such as http://subdomain.oldinstall.com, I am redirected to the registration page for http://newinstall.com/wp-signup.php.
As far as I can see, I am not using subfolders in any part of the install, I replaced any reference to http://newinstall.com in http://oldinstall.com by doing a search and replace in the SQL prior to creating the new installation database.
I can access the root page at http://oldinstall.com and I can log in through http://oldinstall.com/wp-login.php and access the super admin dashboard. But, when I attempt to navigate to a subdomain dashboard, I am again redirected to the registration page at http://newinstall.com/wp-signup.php?subdomain.oldinstall.com.
What I done did wrong? What I can do to see the pages and posts in each site?
