Moved Blog to New Domain Need to Change Links Sitewide (2 posts)

My blog was hanging off the back of another domain I had and I have now purchased it's own new domain, let's call the new domain http://www.catcare.com. I have moved the entire blog to the new domain and now need to change all the links.

    For example:

    http://www.OldDomain.com/blog

    is now:

    http://www.CatCare.com

This means that all the links that are still pointing to the old domain's pages, images, etc need to be changed to the new domain's address. Here is an example of one of the pages:

    http://www.OldDomain.com/blog/feedingtips/

    is now

    http://www.CatCare.com/feedingtips/

and this is a problem because the pages that link to the feeding tips page are hard coded so that even though the domain has changed the link still points to the old domain, like this:

Instead of /feedingtips/ the link's URL on the main page of http://www.catcare.com is http://www.OldDomain.com/blog/feedingtips/

To change all the links across the entire blog manually would take many many hours.

Is there an automatic way to do this, say with a plugin?

I suppose I will still have to change all the links in the htacess file so that anyone who has built links to the old address will be automtically redirected to the new address.

I have found a few plugins that seem to be ideal for this task.

    http://wordpress.org/tags/search-and-replace

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search-regex/

I will still need to add redirects in htaccess file for many of the popular pages though I suppose as the blog was very popular many other sites have linked to individual pages. I could redirect them to the index page easily enough but that would require them to then serach for the page they want.

Does anyone have any better ideas on how to go about this?
