Move to new server but keep the domain name

    I have changed the hosting package with my provider and as a consequence they had to move me to a new server and give me a new username (and password).

    They have kindly moved the SQL db for me but I am unsure how to re-install WordPress on the new server.

    Do I simply install it again or would this delete everything in the DB and create a new, blank one?

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    if they moved the database, just move the files and it should work, no need to reinstall WP.

    Well, that kind of worked … part of my blog is in German and after the move I seem to have lost all German Umlaute (you know, those funny ä,ö,ü and similar characters). They have all been replaced by a � …

    anyone know how to fix that??
