• Hi,
I am not sure if it is a plug in or if it is done in another way. I have seen blogs where there is one text box on the sidebar with Most Commented, Most Popular and Most Recent as the titles. You then can click on each one the top 5 or 10 of each category. One example can be found here:
    http://www.deseretnews.com/home
The three headings obviously being “Latest Updates, Most Popular, and Most Commented”

I would like to do this on my blog so I don’t chew up all my sidebar space. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hey there hyrum, I wish I had asked the same question earlier, instead of searching the entire wordpress plugin database for an answer. But getting a quick answer in this support forum is rare.

I am currently developing a wordpress theme for my Static html site: http://www.Slennzer.com, basically working on keeping the same layout but making use of wordpress’s robust content management system. This had led me to face the same question you’re currently facing, so without a further ado, I recommend the following plugins:

    1) To display the most recent posts, use the plugin by Nick Momrik:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/recent-posts/

    2) For inserting the ‘Popular posts’ use the plugin by Héctor Cabrera:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/

    3) To display the most discussed posts (most commented) use the plugin by Nick Momrik.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/most-commented/installation/

All three plugins have been tested on my local machine and work like a charm! Hopefully this should help you & other people out quite a bit or at the very least, point them towards the right direction!

The only draw back is, that you’ll need a pretty strong CSS stylesheet to hold these three elements together …which I am currently working on. ;D
But once you have got that in place, the end result would be fantastic!

    All the best dude,
    Signed!

    Mr. Jayen Ratnani 🙂

I don’t know how to do that, and I would like to do it!
    Any help for us?

Sure I have bookmarked this page and i will let you lot know as soon as i can. But right now, I a little bit busy working on my own theme & on top of that my HD crushed… arhhh! so I am trying to restore everything.

What i’ll probably do is simply upload the css files and hand out the codes you’ll need but i need some time…. best advice is to stay put here.

Give me a week or so and i should have it ready 🙂
