    Hello,
I am representing a winery interested in stepping up their game with a hot new website. Currently I write for them and have some wp experience but with .com and not .org. They have asked me to help them get a site and I am trying to get more info here. They will need a site where a webstore for their wine can be created which I understand can happen here. But I would like to know how easy that is, and if this is the best place for a site like that or if there is a better site somewhere else. I would love some suggestions about that. Also they currently have a blog at wordpress.com and we would like to have a blog on the site. If they cannot stay with wp for their mainsite it is important that they have a blog option wherever they go. Also I would like to know if it is difficult to set up a site here and if it is best to pay for the support staff to do it for them or if I can do it myself without a lot of experience.
I really appreciate any and all help!!!!!
    Thank you,
    SJ

  2. There are no sites "here" -- this site provides the software and support, but you'll need to set up an account with a hosting provider on which to set up your site. Setup on most of them is very easy -- often just a few clicks -- but you'll want to check out your host's offerings, since it can take a few minutes. After that, how hard it is depends on what you want to do with your site.

You might want to take a look at Getting Started with WordPress.

Ecommerce is certainly doable on WP -- and lots of people do it -- but it can be somewhat complicated. I'd suggest making sure you use a reputable ecommerce solution (woo themes and woo commerce is one possibility) and compatible theme that has good support. Google around for WP ecommerce and see what you find out about various options.

Any self-hosted WP site can have a blog -- or I should say DOES have a blog. It's just how you set up pages/posts that determines how they look and function. You should be able to move the current blog posts to the new site if you want.

There is no paid support staff here - everyone is volunteer. You'll need to set up a host account someplace , get WP installed, pick a theme, and then start working on your site. You can certainly do it yourself if you choose to -- though there is a learning curve, especially if you don't know anything about coding. "Difficult" is rather subjective -- it depends on you and what you are trying to do :).

If you decide to hire someone, you can post a job on this page:

EDIT -- sorry , some duplication of above post -- was writing when that got posted.
