    Hi, how do you make the sidebar smaller (and the content area bigger) in the CSS stylesheet?

    Try using Firebug to work with the CSS. If you don't know any CSS, this is a good reference site:

    http://www.w3schools.com/css/

    Without a link to your site, no way for anyone to offer any specific help.

    I am working on localhost right now which is making that a little difficult. and I am using Firebug.
    Here is the live preview on catch themes.
    I'm modifying #content and #sidebar in the css, giving them widths but it doesn't work.

    Sorry, but because of the complex grid system that theme uses, it's really impossible to help with something like this without seeing YOUR site. The live preview won't necessarily be the same as yours. I can only recommend that you either pay for support at Catch or find another theme that is supported here. Free versions of commercial themes are still considered commercial and not generally supported here.

    Here is my modified theme: http://choses.comli.com/wordpress/

    Does that help with visualizing it now?

    In this stylesheet - 978.css -- these are the places where the width is being set for those sections:

    div.col4 {
        width: 306px;
    }

    div.col8 {
        width: 642px;
    }

    Changing those may also affect other elements on that page (i.e the search box) and may mess up other pages. You may also have problems with losing your changes when the theme is updated -- it's generally recommended to use a child theme or custom CSS option for any changes.

    Thank you very much! That worked, and I am actually using a child theme.
