   Is there an easy way to modify the result of that call? Are there some parameters to change the end "[...]to a kind of "more" link to the permalink? Or, for instance, is it possible to have html in the excerpt field (inserting also picture, for instance)? Many Thanks, chr

   Rather than editing core files, it would probably be easier to use the excerpt_reloaded plugin:
   http://guff.szub.net/the-excerpt-reloaded which should do all that you want.
