[resolved] Mixed link list with pages and categories (5 posts)

I'm setting up WordPress as CMS for a website of a choir. I'm mainly using static pages but I'm using a couple of categories for a news page and past events page. I want to have a list of links in the sidebar with the category page links within the static page link list.

I currently made a static page for each categories and linked them to the specific category template file. This seems to work but it has given me the same problem as itissue has with his Next/Previous Links not that aren't working (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/160869)

Does anybody know an alternative way of achieving this? I'm still a bit of a newbie when it comes to WP.

I want to have a list of links in the sidebar with the category page links within the static page link list.

Put the non-Pages links at the beginning or at the end of the list (i.e. NOT mixed) and then you don't need any Pages for the categories.
This might help to understand the concept.

Thanks Moshu for the link to this article.

I had already been thinking in that direction but hadn't come across any articles that confirmed that it's actually possible. But the problem is that I'm not making this website for myself but for someone else who's hung up on a particular link menu order.

The category page approach may solve the previous & next link problem although I'm getting a feeling it may be caused by having a static front page. I'm going to test if this problem also occurs with WP 2.3.3. If it doesn't I might as well switch back until 2.5 has the bugs fixed.

Although I could change the menu's link order with CSS positioning, I'm afraid it will cause major layout problems when new pages are added at a later stadium or the page order is changed in the admin area.

    Any other insight is welcome

Next/prev doesn't work with Pages. Just to make it clear.
It works with any "normal" multipost view - category and monthly archives, search, in any version.
(If you have a static frontpage - there should not be any next/prev on it... it just doesn't make sense)

It does when you have a loop on the page
