    The codex instuctions at

have a step missing, which we might call 8.5:

8.5: download the file wp-config-sample.php and fill in the appropriate information for your database name, location, password, etc. The info you need will be in your old wp-config.php file, which you backed up. Then save the file as wp-config.php and upload it again.

I figured this out successfully, but it's completely absent from the instructions.

It does however say not to delete the old wp-config.php file that is already there. 2 times ;) Then I guess it just uses that one again.

  3. With the exception of a few commented instructions, the wp-config.php files from v1.5 and v2.0 are exactly the same, so the additional step 8.5 is completely unnecessary. Just pay extra attention to step 7.
