Hello, I've installed the current version of WordPress (2.1.2) on my DreamHost-ed site. According to WordPress.com this version allows one to choose a new, third privacy option (Options>Privacy): "visible only to users I choose" (i.e. private). I don't have this option appearing. I am logged in as admin.

bump ^^
any thoughts on why I can't make my blog private?
That 3rd privacy option you mention is not an option in wordpress.ORG type blogs. WordPress.com uses WordPress MU.
Well, my 2.1.x blogs have Options -> Privacy

Oh, I see - this must create some confusion. HandySolo, yes the .org software does have Options>Privacy, but has one less option than the .com blogs. MichaelH don't suppose you know of hand if there are any plans to add that option to the .org open source software?
@syncsync--can't say but you might want to suggest that at Trac. Use your forum login/password there.
Here's a search of the tickets related to privacy at trac:

Wow, I totally agree...the open source version seriously needs to make it an option to allow only registered users to view posts!
Also need it here. .htaccess is so crude, and misses out on all the WP user creation goodness.
