    Gives me this:

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.

I know MySQL is set up. What should I look into?

It maybe your php is not "talking" to mysql.
You should talk to your host.

    Yeah...

The problem is, my host has never worked with this stuff before, so he has no clue.

    lol

    Tell me about it.

Problem is, it's not my site - I'm just running it, and I can't get the owners to switch. They are paranoid about this. This is why I hate running off of a Windows server.

well, it seems this is the 3rd or 4th such thread in which youve heard this.

there's not much in the way of support than can be offered here if the hosting environment doesnt meet the minimum requirements for WordPress.

They meet the requirements. MySQL and PHP have both been installed and are working independently. They just aren't communicating. I'm looking for somebody who can give direction in getting them talking.

Im honestly NOT trying to be smug, but has your host considered reading any of the thousands of pages that address setting up php/mysql witin any number of environments?

I have a really hard time believing that you need to be the go-between between someone here and your host. THEY host, for gods sake, and if they cannot immediately understand a problem they ought to be able to troubleshoot it.

    ---

who is this host that cant seem to do much of anything? A traceroute of the site in your profile indicates that it's actually 1&1 Webhosting.

Man, you're preaching to the choir. I have BEGGED my bosses to swith to a *nix server, but they are freaked out that it's going to go wrong.

I don't NEED to be the go-between, but I'm trying to make it as easy on these guys as I can - lack of trust on my part.

The site I'm inquiring about is different than the one in my link. The company in question is a local Denver hosting company. Being based in Denver, my bosses thought it'd be nice ot have a local company - which also makes zero sense.
