• The “Organize uploads in year month folders” option setting are missing from the media and site settings in my wp 3.5.1 multisite setup (not muti domain). All searches for an answer was unsuccessful. It seems to me while reading other posts that this option is still available in single sites and older WP installs but it is not available in my multisite install. I don’t want to change core files as i know to little about that. I do not like year and month subfolders under my upload directory and prefer to put all uploads directly in the upload folder as I use WP not as a blog and my files are mostly pdf files where titles are more important than year and date.
    Is there any plugin or other simple solution to fix this?

  • Still having the same problem with WP 3.9.2.
    Solution:

    • go to www.your-domain.com/your-wp-dir/wp-admin/options.php
    • find option uploads_use_yearmonth_folders
    • set value to 0

    Hope this helps

    littlesten,

    Thanks for the solution, but can you provide the syntax to “set value to 0”?

    Sorry if this is a basic question.

    Thanks..

    @hamilton33:

    Navigate to www.your-domain.com/your-wp-dir/wp-admin/options.php by typing the URL in the adress bar of your browser. (Set your-domain.com/your-wp-dir to your custom installation path). You will see a very long page with many options sttings. Scroll down to find the option uploads_use_yearmonth_folders and change the value in the text field next to it from 1 to 0. WordPress will no longer store your files in year/month folders then.
    (Maybe there’s a different options page depending on your theme.)

    Hope this helps.
