    Hello,

I am new to wordpress and installed WP locally on my computer (using Mamp and version 3.5.1).
In order to learn how to use WP, I read the tutorial at http://learn.wordpress.com. I liked it, but as I went through, I noticed, I don’t have all the menus decribed in the tutorial.

Based on section “Get comfy”>”The Home page” of the tutorial, I am wondering if I should have more menus. On my local installation, I can not see Links and Feedbacks (it seems “store” is not there as it is a local installation, so I undestand why for this one), and I did not find a reason googling it. SOme stats menus are also missing under Home apparently…like site stats, askimet stats, my blogs, etc…

I would like to confirm why I can not see these menus, if there is anything to do, or if it’s normal. Any idea?
My dashboard menus include the following sections:
    – home
    – update

    – posts
    – media
    – pages
    – comments

    – appearance
    – plugins
    – users
    – tools
    – settings

    Thanks,

The Links Manager was removed by default in new installs in WordPress 3.5. You can get it to show again by using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/link-manager/

Feedbacks is specific to the contact module within the Jetpack plugin. Other than that, your dashboard menu looks fine to me.

Ok, so for Links and Feedback my WP is fine then, great! 😉

How about the “site stats”, “askimets stats”, “my blogs” in between home and store section (seen on get comfy>the home page section)?

You will only have site stats if you install a plugin like Jetpack. Ditto you need Akismet active for its stats. And “my blogs” is specific to wordpress.com sites – not a single, self-hosted, WordPress site.
