• I just discovered the themes at Themehybrid.com, and wanted to try out ‘hybrid’, and set up a child-theme.
However, when I just tried out the basic theme, I didn’t find a ‘recent posts’-widget anymore under the widgets-section.
I had already seen, that on ‘themehybrid.com’ this widget was often missing on the theme demo’s, but I was sure I would find it, as it is one of the standard-widgets that ships with WordPress.

Unfortunately, a whole bunch of my readers is not very internet-savy, and haven’t ever heard of rss, so they come to my site once in a while, and want to be able to see which were my latest posts in the sidebar.
    Anybody a suggestion?

Thanks for your reply, although it didn’t give me what I was looking for (just a simple list of the latest posts, not related posts, or latest forum posts, or latest posts from each category, but just something like the plain latest post widget.
But when I changed the search to ‘recent posts’, something showed up that might be usefull (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/recent-posts/).

I had hoped there was some work-around to make the plain WordPress widget work again, but probably this will do as well.

No… this ‘recent-posts’ plugin isn’t going to work, at least not for me.
The ‘hybrid’-theme has no ‘simple’ sidebar.php template, so for me it seems too difficult to find out where I have to insert <?php mdv_recent_posts(); ?> in the templates…
It seems that I just have to find another theme…

The Hybrid theme does allow you to set up a widget with your latest posts.

We also have support forums at Theme Hybrid for themes released there:
