I have the same problem! Thing is that Hotlink protection is turned off, but i tried to add the location of my WordPress installation. domain.net/word, with and without www. Didn't help at all. I can't see any icons, custom-logoes etc..

I'm only building a test-website, the installation is brand new, new databases and all. The URL's are the same, and I have only changed them trying to fix this (added www.)

Never had this problem with the with < 2.7..

Some details: Some icons show and some don't. Example: In Dashboard, the "add an image" and "add audio" show, "add video" and "add media" will not show.

In Manage Themes no icons (themes preview) will show and so on.. In addition only half the WordPress logo show in top left of Dashboard (1/4 in login screen).

    Just reinstalled, didn't help..

    might try this
I just did an install with similar problems.
I set the folder wordpress was in to chmod 777 and also /wp-admin, /wp-content, /wp-includes
    logged out
logged in and everything was normal
chmod all folders back to 755 for security and it still worked
    ???

Just tried it.. When folders are set to 777 Dashboard goes down, meaning it's not possible to either log in or log out (all white window). Set back to 755 everything works, except the icons once again.

Anyone? I've tried 777>755 on all folders, with and without subfolders and files.

Ok this is what worked for me - I had tried everything suggested on this thread but nothing worked.

I'm with byethost in case anyone else is and have a few addon domains.

It turns out I had been FTPing in ASCII mode which had been fine up until now - I switched to FTPing in binary and now its all fine. Worth a try...

Kay9, I know this is an old post, but I just want to say THANK YOU!!!
I've been struggling with this issue for weeks, searching the forums, posting and posting....a zillion emails with my host...why I found this today and didn't before I don't know, but I very, very grateful!
