• Hi there!

I’m very new to WP and I had my website developed by someone else. I’m now trying to edit some of the content in the website for the purpose of using google analytics and such. My problem is when I log into wordpress, first my dashboard is completely empty. Also, on the side tool bar options I do not have the Appearance, Tools, and Settings options. Currently I’m only able to add new pages and edit some of the content, but I would really need full access in order to have control of the website. Can someone please advise?? I’ve looked everywhere for answers and I can’t find anything. 🙁

  • It sounds like who ever has developed your website has set up your user account as either a contributor or author (probably author). That means that you won’t see those other admin araes. The easiest way to fix this is to contact who ever did the site and get them to change your user type to administrator. If you can’t do that it is possible to change your user type thorugh phpMyAdmin. There’s a bit of detail here, but you might need more info if you have to try it that way.
