Missing "Add New" themes and plugins after transfer (7 posts)

After moving my site from wordpress.com to a privately hosted solution my site has lost the ability to add new plugins and themes while losing access to the appearance>editor. I can activate any theme or plugin but cannot download new. I'm logged in as an administrator. I've tried the following ... all with no luck.

    1. deactivating/activating plugins
    2. switching themes to default wp2011
    3. clearing browser cache/switching browsers
    4. creating new admin user
    5. resetting db_version
    6. Used the force-upgrade.php script

When I try to go directly to "/wp-admin/plugin-install.php" I get a "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." message.

I'm believing this has something to do with wp not seeing the administrator roles as NOT fully administrator even though I'm able to login, see the admin bar, edit posts, save site settings, create users etc.

Is there something with the wp_user_roles option (or similar) in the wp_options table?

By the way, otherwise to the visiting user, the site is working fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I have the 'export' from wp.com. I also have server backups since the transfer.

    Try:

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have done both before and just for grins just did them again. No improvement. Must be something somewhere with the database wp_options, wp_usermeta or something else outside of the file system.

Keep thinking. Anyone know anything to look for in the db?

Just now replaced the wp_options > wp_user_roles field with default array value from a working wp site.

Also tried to use the "user-role-editor" plugin hoping this would reset the roles field. No luck here either.

Still working on this but running out of ideas. Thanks for any other ideas!

    Ok, here's a thought...

When in development I used http://client.myDomain.com but when launched added an alias to the server. The files/db stayed the same, just told cPanel to listen for http://blog.client.com by adding a Parked domainn and changed the settings>general in wp to...

    WordPress Address (URL) = http://blog.client.com
    Site Addres (URL) = http://blog.client.com

    Could this make a difference?
