Missing About and Archive Pages after Upgrade (5 posts)

Upgrading to 2.3.1 went smoothly, except that the links on the home page to About and Archive are broken. I'm not sure whether it's a problem with the urls they point to (wordpress/about/ and /wordpress/archives/ respectively) or something else, but I can't seem to find where to regenerate them...

    Did you update your permalinks?

Other than that... no way to give any meaningful advice without a link.

    The blog is at http://www.joshuamacy.com/wordpress

As for updating the permalinks, under Options | Permalinks I chose date-and-name-based, and that seems to work. E.g.

    http://www.joshuamacy.com/wordpress/2007/11/19/marginal-revolution-why-most-published-research-findings-are-false-2/

finds the right individual post page. It's only the /about/ and /archives/ that seem to be missing/unable to resolve.

Do you have, actually, an About and Archives Page?

My understanding was that WordPress creates at least a default About page during installation, that says something along the lines of "This is an example of a WordPress page, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from." Is this not the case?

At any rate, I figured it out: I had to go into Manage | Pages and create a page named about and a page named archives using the provided templates.
