Per there own website documents and documentation on wordpress the free woocommerce plugin features includes:

    FEATURES
Payment Gateways, Shipping Methods and Integrations are important to any store - WooCommerce comes bundled with the following:

PayPal Standard Gateway - Accept credit cards and PayPal payments

But the way in which the have coded that paypal button it eliminates the ability to allow customers to pay with a credit card and are forced to create a paypal account.

And unless you buy something from woocommerce you can't get support. I thought i had setup incorrectly and spent a day trying to figure out and get help all to later learn from a woocommerce web designer that if you want the credit card feature without paypal account requirement you have to shell out $99.

Woah slow down @hoopsparent, you are mistaken and your designer is completely wrong.

When you go to paypal to pay, customers click the option to pay without an account and they are able to use a credit card - see this: http://cl.ly/image/2z3A1f0J2p3o

I'm not 100% certain but I think that requires a business or permier paypal account rather than personal one (its free to change account types, if you are a business you should do this anyway).

I'd appreciate if you confirmed the above and updated your review with correct information :)

    Thanks

it would be great if this is true BUT when i posted and asked if free woocommerce supported the paypal standard function of credit card payment without paypal account the response I got was you need to pay $99 for that ability. and http://jameskoster.co.uk/ states he works for woocommerce

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/woocommerce-paypal-standard?replies=2#post-4685716

secondly it doesn't work on my site-http://piedmontboosterstore.org see for yourself. paypal payments does not go to a page on paypal giving you any options to pay with credit card. it goes to this page, WHERE their is no options other than to pay with a paypal account.

    https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=f7T-_MFSeI1370DXbWwY0FI3igsTw99DIH7n6oAf3hJz6FUVzAV9yIf_Ev8&dispatch=50a222a57771920b6a3d7b606239e4d529b525e0b7e69bf0224adecfb0124e9b61f737ba21b08198c3bf94e94910b98592d3f6a39690aaea

so I look forward to your next response.

What type if paypal account is it then? Probably not business?

    1) Personal – Your client can not pay you by credit card. They can only pay your via PayPal transfer of funds from their own PayPal account. When trying to pay your invoice online, they will forced to sign up for a PayPal account even though they think they can pay by credit card.

PayPal Personal accounts can be upgraded to Premiere/Business for free from within your PayPal account. There is an “Upgrade” button on your My Account page next to your name.

    2) Premiere – You can accept credit cards and PayPal transfers

    3) Business – You can accept credit cards and PayPal transfers

What country is the account in?

    https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/general/OptionalAccount-outside

To turn the feature on or off, simply log in to PayPal, go to Profile, click ‘Website Payment Preferences’ under the Selling Preferences column and tick the yes/no box under PayPal Account Optional.

*This feature is available to Premier and Business account holders only. It is not currently available for items purchased directly on eBay.co.uk.

your answer is not a solution nor is it accurate.

the option to pay with a credit card WITHOUT a paypal account is feature available in the standard paypal business account, it is not a feature you turn on or off it comes as part of the functionality of the account.

i just posted a post to my site piedmonthighboosters.org in which i use a paypal button created from my account for donations and it works fine. goes to our account allows for payments with a credit card without a paypal account and allows for payment with a paypal account. see link https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=ndVcBEGXvFmL-6wIIXCldkLeUIZh445U1AAYrKggko0KoNkRrzDLybAl7wK&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d0038486cd0d9a2f30f3a21df7b0d0cee

I MADE no changes to the paypal account so it's NOT paypal.

so ONCE again I state it is WOO Commerce disabling this functionality in the free version of woo commerce. and the fact that you show in your documentation on wordpress and on your website is FALSE.

@hoopsparent the pay links you are giving me are no good, that session is specific to you.

I'm not really sure why you are stating my answers are not accurate though. Did you even try?

Here is a screenshot from my PayPal business account: http://cl.ly/image/3t0n1b311j2O

    The option exists.

i did try and the option was already selected and i called paypal and was online for 30 mins and they state the account is setup correct it is where the shopping cart has setup the direction to paypal.

and since the direct paypal buttons work it has to be woocommerce.

since the links only work for my sessions, then try for yourself. woocommerce is blocking the functionality.

Your checkout requires an account so I cannot try it.

I'll say it one more time though - nothing blocks the functionality. Check the code if you don't believe me, its all open source. And since it works for all of my accounts, and others which I've seen in action theres not much more I can say if you won't take my word for it.

    Thanks

    Hi all,
@Mike, you can just put in any dummy password to auto create an account on the website, which I did. the situation is indeed as @hoops states, there's no direct way on the screen to select payment via cc without having a paypal account.

That said, I believe that @mike has the preponderance of evidence on his side. Imagine how many thousands of complaints there would have been to date, if what @hoops asserts is actually true.

So @hoops, assume for a moment that your experience is an anomaly due to a setup issue - either a paypal shop config setup, or a paypal account setup issue.

I'm still getting the "you must be logged in" message on http://piedmontboosterstore.org/checkout/.

    Correct URL?

Can you take a screenshot of your paypal settings in woocommerce and post it here?

More info with some replies from PP staff: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Merchant-services-Archive/Paypal-account-optional/td-p/233270

One note on their, you need to ensure your business/premier account is verified and has a verified email address too.

    Hey there,

I'm experiencing the same problem as OP. Short version is - when trying to use the paypal module included in the WooCommerce plugin, the option to pay (via paypal) with a credit card (without signing up for a paypal account) does not appear. The WooCommerce free plugin does explicitly state:

PayPal Standard Gateway - Accept credit cards and PayPal payments

Previous buyer experience tells me what I should see - the option to just input credit card info. As this screenshot displays, it is simply not there.

    Checkout screenshot

Sandbox is turned off. AFAIK everything is set up as it should. I'd like to avoid setting up their mijireh payment gateway and just keep it simple, if possible.

Here's the site - you do not need to create an account in order to make a purchase.
    http://apocalypsekow.com/moo/shop/

It is possible that I simply need to have the paypal account owners verify the account; it is new. Unfortunately right this second I don't have the login info. I'll get back to you folks when I try that out.

  21. That is controlled by an option in your paypal account. You, the account owner, gets to decide if guest purchases should be allowed.

@hoopsparent I keep telling you thats not the case :) It is PayPal.

Just for fun why don't you install another plugin, say http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-digital-downloads/ and try its PayPal gateway with your account. Guarantee you it will be identical :)

  25. Yep, I will echo what @mikejolley said - install any other plugin (I wrote the one Mike mentioned above) and you will find it is identical. Plugins do not even have the option of controlling that.

    Hi,
I just went through this setting up a new paypal account for an existing business. With the old paypal account, CC was accepted, with the new one, not. Both were set up as business, and I slowly tracked through matching everything up. Still no joy. Part of the problem was that i had not set up IPN on the PayPal side for the new account (with the correct return). Finally, it ended up being a cookie problem. When I checked with a different browser after all of the preceding, all was good. I found this to be very helpful:

No eCommerce platform can control Payment Gateway options. Guest checkout can be enable and disable only from within PayPal. WooCommerce cannot control it. Cannot. PERIOD.
