• My company is moving from Blogger to our own hosted WordPress site. We do everything in-house, and would like to get a server up ASAP. I setup Google Analytics to estimate bandwidth. I did some searching on minimum hardware requirements, but could not find a gold standard. We’re likely under 10,000 unique visitors per month, so I think minimum should be:

    Pentium D
    2GB RAM
    100 G HD
    Linux

Internet connection speed is not an issue. This is just a request for a minimum good performance server so we can get online ASAP, then we’ll work on getting a more solid solution up and running.

    Thanks,

    Owen

The hardware won’t be an issue for a low traffic site. It’s mostly PHP, MySQL, etc that you have to worry about.

Instead of hosting it on your own hardware, you may want to think about going with an inexpensive hosting company. For less than $10/month, you don’t have to worry about being a systems administrator.

In line with our company’s longstanding policies, we do all Internet services in-house (web, email, etc) even though we are a large consumer products company. I’m trying to determine whether we can use current parts to build a beta server (which we can expand) or whether we need to purchase a new box.

Since you have 10000 unique visitors, you should not face the problem with this hardware.
