Mini loop of post on WordPress.com site

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for this question.

I use the free wordpress.com online blogging site and have a static page to which I want to add a mini loop of my latest posts at the bottom. It is quite easy to find some suggested code in the various support sites (it usually starts with ” <?php $how_many=5; //How many posts do… etc “)

However as a non-techie I can’t work out whether this code can be used on the wordpress.com online version… If so, how must I change this standard code to work on my blog: http://www.bulungulaincubator.wordpress.com ?
