I want to transfer my WordPress.com pages to the local installation on Bluehost en it doesn’t work.

My website serves for an event in oktober and people have to register beforehand. To add the registration page, the website has to be on a local version.

If I would wait for a payed guided transfer by the WordPress team, the registration page would be on line much to late, since people can start registering the 1st Sept. . So I have to do it myself.

WordPress.org has been installed succesfully in Bluehost using Simple Scripts.

But every time I try the link of Bluehost to check in, I come back in WordPress.com. As long as that is the case, I can not import my data locally.

I guess it has to do with the mapping in WordPress.com to my domein, which was already hosted by Blueost.

I’ve switched the primary address in the domain settings, but it doesn’t make any difference. I keep coming out in WordPress.com.

How can I get access to my local installation?

Can somebody help me urgently please? I am struggling with this already several days.

This weekend my registration form has to be on line normally
(as of 1 september the registration starts!).

Thank you so much for all the help!

  • Ask your hosts if you can use a temporary url.

There is a temporary url with Bluehost. You will need to edit your database if you want to use it though, since wordpress is url specific. Bluehost should be able to help you with that though.

Thanks for the help! I just managed to chat with Bluehost and things should be okay by tomorrow. It seemed that the DNS servers had to be changed. I hope that tomorrow everything works like expected :). Thanks again and have a great day!
