• Hello,

I just switched to a VPS and a problem has occured. I can’t seem to get my old blog working over there. I know this was a feeble attempt, but I just copied the files into my new VPS, made a DB, swiched the data in the config file and I can’t seem to get it going.

What is the correct way of doing it? Thanks.

Is the blog now at a different domain or in a different directory than where it was before the move?

    Same domain, completely different provider.

Also, even though I updated the new IP in the config, it keeps searching for the old one.

    Any ideas?

did you upload the old db to the new db you made?

I don’t think I did. How would I do that?

Ok. I did this, however it keeps trying to connect to old IP. I did not find (used search function) the old IP in the backup of the sql file.

    Strange. Any ideas?

WHere did you input the IP in the first place? Was it one of the URLs in Options/General? Was it entered into wp-config.php?

Well, I have no idea where I put it since I installed with Fantastico. I assumed that by changing the IP in the config.php everything would work.

I have done everything in that link above except for this:

Look inside the wp_options table and check that the values in siteurl and home are set to the new domain name and address.

Reason is I cannot find the values sitenaame and home anywhere in that table. I’m using phpmyadmin and I just cannot find it.

    Hint perhaps?

    Ok. Got it.

For some reason, when uploading new config file via FTP, it renamed to config-retry.php. Original config.php was still in there.

Anyway, I couldn’t have done it without your link.

    Thank you very much.
