Hi,
I am relatively new to WordPress, though I have built a few of my clients sites in WordPress already. I'm currently looking at migrating a client's site (built in basic PHP without a CMS) into a new WordPress install.
All the current pages of the site are located in the root directory and are linked directly to the page, e.g. mydomain.com/product_hub.php. My client has put a lot of time and money into increasing these pages' search engine ranking over the years, so they are all over Google with the .php extension.
Now, from testing with WordPress I know I can name a page 'product_hub.php' and it will be renamed 'product_hub-php', but it can be accessed via the URL mydomain.com/product_hub.php. My question to you guys is, are you aware of any negative implications to moving the site to WordPress this way? Are the Google rankings likely to be affected?
Sorry if this has been covered before on this forum. I haven't found any topics directly relating to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
